With the latest version of the CC client, when I select my texturepack in the menu, it changes the block textures and the menu button textures but as soon as I join a new world, the block textures revert back to default and the menu buttons stay the same. I know this didn't happen before with the last update or if this was intended but if not if it's a known bug? is anyone else having this problem

Depends on the server you are joining, if they support ExtMapAppearence and send a blank texture url it will change your textures to the default textures unless you set "Allow server textures" in advanced options to false.
