Skins Not Updated to 1.8 Format?

Hi, I tried setting my Classic skin to the same skin I have for my Premium skin. However, it seems the image must be 64x32 pixels wide, and mine was 64x64. I suspect that Classic skins are not updated to 1.8 format yet? Will they be updated to 1.8 format? I understand classic is a very old version of Minecraft, however Classicube seems to be going beyond classic limits with new blocks, etc. So will the skin format on Classicube be updated to 1.8 format?

Most likely not. But I/we may try to support 1.8 skins on minecraft.net servers sooner or later.
