ClassicalSharp updates thread

This thread will document all the changes between updates and what is planned next.

You are welcome to reply to this thread with suggestions/feedback/bug reports.

0.98.8 to 0.98.9 (next version, in development)

  • Custom models extension.

0.98.7 to 0.98.8

  • Fix 'skip SSL check' button not showing up in the launcher.
  • Your account name is used (hence skin) in singleplayer.
  • Gui elements are scaled in units of tenths, fixes artifacts on some gpus.
  • Full support for 64x64 skins (including alex) from minecraft 1.8.
  • Added a giant model (humanoid at double scale).
  • Now 'choose mode' menu is shown instead of 'normal/pure classic' mode.
  • Fetching resources now shows a progress bar.
  • Options all simplified to also include their value in the button, instead of as a label below.
  • Implement proper scrollbar behaviour for both the servers list in the launcher and the inventory menu in the client.

0.98.6 to 0.98.7

  • Fixed seed being restricted between 1-8192, slightly optimised noise calculation on large singleplayer worlds.
  • Slightly optimised chunk mesh building even more.
  • Less visible chunks popping in/out on fog borders.
  • Added F9 to show 'time been player for' clock.
  • BlockDefinitions blocks are now saved for singleplayer maps.
  • Head no longer rotates at the same speed as the rest of the model.
  • Added optional entity shadows.
  • Always show extended help for particular options in the menu.
  • Added an automatic 'check for updates', does not download updates though.
  • Added a chibi model for entities, which was coded by goodlyay. (Thanks!)
  • horspeed=XYZ is now recognised in the motd, to allow sprinting on -hax maps.
  • Multi-line links now wrap properly.

0.98.5 to 0.98.6

  • Some performance optimisations for very large maps (1024x256x1024 for example).
  • Client runs on wine properly.
  • Added block placing sounds.
  • Can hold down 'left control' for half speed multiplier.
  • Added double and triple jump similar to classicube.
  • Fix rough/jumpy mouse movement on 30/60/120 FPS modes.
  • Add tab completion of player names. (Must be turned on in gui options)
  • Allow configuring key presses to act as mouse clicks.
  • Add extended help for some options, by right clicking on them.
  • Proper lighting for upside down slabs.
  • Allow using non-arial fonts.
  • Allow placing blocks off map bedrock sides.
  • Add pure classic mode that looks and behaves like the original classic. (Still not 100% done)

0.98.3 to 0.98.5

  • Fixed parkour being harder than classicube.
  • Added 'always no' and 'always yes' when showing the texture pack 'Would you like to download' dialog.
  • Added an option (in gui options) to use the original classic gui textures.
  • Allow changing own jump height.

0.98.2 to 0.98.3

  • Added back in the old classic player arms animation. (Big thanks to goodlyay for his large assistance with this)
  • Added a reconnect button.
  • Added a zoomable camera. You can use this by pressing down C (default binding) and then scrolling with the mouse wheel.
  • Added an option to invert the mouse direction.
  • Can overwrite existing maps when saving in singleplayer.
  • Able to use blocks with non 0 x/z min coordinates and non 1 x/z max coordinates.
  • Rewritten launcher interface to be easier to use and closer to classicube's.
  • Other minor bug fixes on OSX. (Sky/clouds, missing first char in chat input, names in launcher servers list drawing too big all fixed)
  • F7 to show axes lines.

0.98.1 to 0.98.2

  • Sounds now work properly.
  • Added rain particles.
  • Liquid block physics improved, now making zombie survival easier.
  • BlockDefinitions is now sent as an CPE extension to the server, allowing for the usage of new blocks defined dynamically on the fly.
  • Added a singleplayer map generator that is very close to original classic map generator. (Big thanks to Jerralish for documenting the original classic map generation algorithm)

0.98 to 0.98.1

  • Support for playing the original classic music.
  • Support for view bobbing.
  • Support for limiting FPS to: 30, 60, 120, VSync, and no limit.
  • Now uses gui.png by default for block hotbar and menu.
  • Support for full .zip texture packs in EnvMapAppearance.

0.97 to 0.98

  • Support for clicking on links in chat, support for copying from previous chat messages.
  • Support for entering colour codes and all code page 437 characters via pressing 'alt' when the input bar is open. (Only works on servers that support FullCP437 extension)
  • Addded a block in hand model, which also has placing, deleting, and switching blocks animations.

Thanks darky64. Its just for the very old 2011-2012 classic players to feel the nostalgia and come back. like bubblecube, he did youtube videos and got 100,000+ views :0

tbh I've played since it came out in 2009 and I really don't want time to be wasted going backwards.

Of course, people miss the classic mode minecraft classic.

I keep receiving "Failed to sign in: SendFailure" when trying to log in. Even if I put in the wrong password. The response is instant. Any ideas on a solution?

I think... it's not the intention of ClassiCube to make a copy of the Original Minecraft Classic. As I read on the frontpage: "ClassiCube is a free and easy-to-use substitute for Minecraft Classic, an early version of the popular game Minecraft, only better."

Also, I have heard of a program, where you can still play Classic on a Launcher, I just don't know what's it called.

The client of minecraft 0.30 is WOM, World of minecraft but you need use your account of minecraft.net to play and no im sure the links of classicube work at the client WOM.

The official client of minecraft .30 was the in browser client on minecraft.net/classic/play/*

WOM, Charged-Miners, Classicube, ClassicalSharp are all custom desktop clients which have no affiliation with Minecraft/Mojang

But WOM and changeminers need accounts of minecraft.net

Hey,

For CS, I think it would be useful to personally have these options for Hacks Settings: "Adminium breakable: yes/no" and generally "Blocks breakable yes/no", to stop yourself from accidental breaking blocks, or glitching on nobuild maps.

Also, on Servers with specific maps, where building is not wanted: The option to completely disable placing and breaking blocks for everyone (except admins, other staff) would make glitching/lag-pillaring/etc impossible. (I think Unknown told me that it's already possible, though I have never seen it being used on a server yet.)

I don't know how much of that is worth to implement, but I'm just trying to mention ideas that could make things easier.

WoM and (I'm pretty sure) Charged-Miners allow for direct links, which include information like salt/username/etc and thus don't require minecraft.net accounts.

and how do I put a link ClassiCube to WOM?

Do you think you can add stairs because my house isn't complete without them :(

  2. Copy the URL
  3. Paste URL into WOM Launcher
  4. Hit "go"

They are already technically added. It is up to the server you play on if they want to add them. Currently only on ProCraft and McGalaxy servers.

I saw the text you put about behaving like original classic.. I think a great option without making another launcher is. There can be a button that says "Would you like to have the old minecraft classic look? You click it, it restarts, and there, everything looks like 0.30 and 100% old. No new features from classicube or classicsharp. but I think the launcher when looking for server lists, it looks just like the minecraft classic page from mojangs website, with the flags, countries and ect. I just hope this works. Cause every other game I played, they got bad and died, this has more potential. If unknownshadow needs a bit more help remembering, some old videos can help. Like this for example C: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9Pybq3TZiE

Good improvement. Maybe..put all the nostalgia settings into the menu. just like when you press the classic mode, all classic settings are applied at once. It can prevent confusion in changing settings. And..is it unnecessary to have the + in front of peoples names since minecraft.net got taken down?

Nostalgia settings are in the menu(unless they were taken out) and the + before/after names is a server thing.

No, I mean, when you click normal mode, there does not need to be nostalgia settings. Since everything on the old classic mode will be completely seperate from classicube or classicalsharp mode. The thing here is to have the old mc classic completely seperate from classicube or classicsharp. thats why I said before to have 100% UI and GUI mc classic, with no new features from CC os CS, 0%. Click classic mode, its 0.30, no new blocks, fps, Hacks, none. All old. click Normal mode, all features and new blocks are there in CC and CS. You see, if everything is mixed up with settings and such, confusion will happen and odd glitches will happen. If seperate, everything is fine on their own C:

Replaced with 'Black text shadows', as I assumed no one used 'Block in hand'.

Hey UnknownShadow. Is there something wrong in ClassicalSharp? Because every time I click the Fab's Server, It gives me an error message .ClasscalSharp has forced to closed. Cause of error is "VBO support required for OpenGL build"
