Why can't i change my skin???

Hi,uh this is my 1st thread and i have a question(definitely not a complaint): I can't change my skin. I did what it said;to find a 64x64 skin but when i found one,downloaded it and chose the file it says that it couldn't be uploaded HALP ME!

Skins must be a multiple of 64x32 and a maximum of 512x256
