So, as usual, I went to go play some lava survival, (and this was after I updated to the new update), the launcher just freezes and never opens the game. Sometimes the launcher doesn't even close through task manager. Any way to fix?

What antivirus / security software do you have?
Does a message box saying "We're sorry" show up saying that the cause of the crash has been logged to launcher.log?
Does any sort of dialog or error box show?

I have norton and it removed the laucher file
