The attraction used to be for building structures to impress people. I think people aren't that impressed any more. Can I suggest a new direction?

Is it possible to program, say, the mushrooms so that if one is built it shows up on a counter on the top left of the screen as 0/1 i.e. no mushrooms collected of a total of one mushroom on this world.

Access and build options could limit players to designing worlds with mushrooms for people to collect if high enough rated (i.e. build option) and only able to clear mushrooms (i.e. access option).

People, I am sure, would then go about designing worlds for others to solve including mazes full of mushrooms similar to a sort of 3d pacman.

Later additions could include blocks that look like walls but can be walked through. Possibly done in a similar way to how water is done now. This would allow designers to build hidden passageways that can only be found be testing the walls. Moving further on switches could be programmed so they open a door somewhere else in the world making people have to do things in sequence.

I am sure there are other things that could be added. For instance if a 'walk through' block was put on the ground of a passage way the solver would fall down a tunnel rather than travel along it and then have to find another way of getting to a point the other side of the drop.

These are already possible with the CPE extensions supported by the client and popular server softwares.

What is possible? can we use a block as a counted prize? which servers?

Servers have the ability to edit the font (along with every other texture) and stick text in a number of places on the game screen (including in the corners), and create arbitrary amounts of new blocks with almost any combination of size/physical properties/translucency.

A creative enough programmer could pretty much fully recreate survival with the CPE extensions supported by CS, or any number of other gamemodes. One such gamemode that I've seen is a functional soccer gamemode, where the ball is, in fact, an entity that you click on to kick I believe.
