This isn't really a big idea from myself but would it be a good idea to add the capes feature to classicube so you can choose/create your own cape without changing skins all the time for the back side?

The More Models plugin allows capes. At the moment, the only capes are the Minecon capes but you can replace cape.png in ModelTextures.zip with a custom cape texture.
