Sorry for the inconvenience

How can you legally sell classicube on steam? Doesn't it still use the base minecraft classic code so technically a copyright infringement?
ClassiCube is literally a rewrite of Minecraft Classic (in CS & C). The Steam version won't come with Mojang's assets (texture, music, etc) while the free version will.
Classicube does not contain any code from Minecraft.
The ClassiCube Team can do whatever they want to and with CC because they own it. They can sell it, sell copies of it, make it subscription based, stop disclosing the source code... They don't own Mojang's assets but they reached an agreement - allow CC to fetch MCC assets from Mojang's servers without charging for the game. The agreement is respected as it's distributed with original assets on Steam.
